The Rook Family Tree

 

WILLIAM HENRY ROOK; was born 22nd February 1866 at Molash. He was christened on 25th February 1866 at Molsah. William died 4th Qtr 1940 registered at Faversham, aged 74.

William married (1) ELIZA ELIZABETH ING on 11th May 1889 at Boughton.

Eliza was born 2nd Qtr 1871 at Boughton. Eliza was christened on ?. Her parents were Henry Ing and Matilda ?. She died 1st Qtr 1903, aged 32. Her death possibly could be due to childbirth as her daughter Eliza is born around about the same time and has her mother's name exactly, including surname.

William married again after Eliza's death, but not until 3rd Qtr 1930. (2) EMMA LOUISA ING calls her self ROOK on the 1911 census as do her 4 children. They are all 'late entries' for bmd and listed as ROOKE. However, each child is christened as 'ING' and only Emma Louisa is mentioned on their christening records. Some have been incorrectly registered as 'TUG' for a surname. Henry doesn't marry Emma until 1930, they would have both been in their 60's.

Emma Louisa Ing was born 3rd Qtr 1868, registered at Faversham. Emma is Eliza's sister! Emma died possible 4th Qtr 1943 registered at Chatham aged 75.

William Ing is Eliza's brother. I'm not sure where 'the square' is at Boughton, but I believe it to have been near Bull Lane. There were 6 families living there in 1891 and 4 of them are Rook's.

Eliza dies in 1903 around the time of the birth of their 5th child Eliza Elizabeth.

 

William now turns up with his first wifes sister! They also have 4 more children, presumed William's. Emma and William do not marry until 1930.

Emma states that she has been married for 24 years and has had 7 children, 7 survived, none died. I think this is probably just hiding the truth as it would have had a certain amount of stigma attached to it. William may have been married for about 24 years, but there were more than 7 children in total. I think they have just tried to make it look like a 'proper' family. Says she the unmarried mother!
